Gadget Blog - Kodak DC50

Ah yes, the Kodak DC50 Digital Camera. I picked one of these beasts up in a pawn shop for $25 4 years ago or so. It was pretty obsolete at that time but I used the hell out of it. It had a 756x504 pixel CCD (yes thats less than 1mp, for you young'ns), a 38-114mm f/2.8 zoom lens, no live-view lcd, 2mb internal memory (pcmcia card slot for extra storage), and ran on 4 AA batteries.

Gadget Blog - Sharp Wizard OZ-730

The Sharp Wizard series has always been a bit of a puzzle for me. I used to own the OZ-730 when it first came out and strangely enough, out of the many many pdas I have owned, I actually used this one the most. It wasnt very fancy but it was a pretty solid device, and i still miss it to this day. Pretty rare now they sell on eBay for over $200, and thats pretty odd to me. Mine had 1.5mb internal memory, monochrome LCD, decent keyboard, and serial connection. You can download programs for it which are actually compiled in memos, which i suppose is fairly interesting - and fairly limiting. To think i sold mine years ago to a pawn shop for 5 bucks, the tear drops fall. What else can you do....

Gadget Blog - Diamond Rio PMP300

The Rio PMP 300 by Dimond Multimedia. My first mp3 player and pretty much my entry into techno lust. With a whopping 32mb internal flash memory (smartmedia slot for up to 32mb more), non-text display, and a fancy parallel connection - you got my heart pumping. The included musicmatch software was intuitive enough, and managing music wasnt difficult (albiet a bit slow). I dont know if it was just all in my head but my music seemed to just sound better using this unit. Battery life was pretty good, in the 10 hour or so range, considering it only used a single AA battery. I later replaced this gadget with a multitude of other PMPs - but it will always be #1 in my heart. Add this one to the obsolete gadget pile...
